Boothill is a small community comprised of 21 lots nestled around BLM & US Forest Service land. Lot sizes average 2.5 acres. Our environment is heavily treed in Pinon Pine and abundant wildlife. Living in harmony with the surrounding flora and fauna, Boothill is a quiet neighborhood.
The CWPP establishes long-range recommendations that protect what residents indicated they value most: firefighter lives, human lives, drinking water supply, essential infrastructure, homes, wildlife habitat and recreation assets that support the local economy. The plan uses new computer modeling techniques developed by Colorado State University to map the level of risk and identify areas to treat the forest for the highest cost efficiency. Chaffee County's 10-year goal is to treat up to 30,000 acres of the mapped area by 2030 - an objective that would double the past rate of treatment and reduce overall risk to the community's assets by nearly half in a decade.
Following the 2019 Deckers fire that impacted our community, a Wildfire Protection Plan was developed with recommendations for fire mitigation on Methodist Mountain.
